WASHINGTON – The Small Business Administration will celebrate the success of women-owned businesses and recognize some of the leading women entrepreneurs at a special event on Sept. 18 during the agency's National Entrepreneurial Conference & Expo Sept. 17-19. According to the SBA, the number of women-owned businesses in the U.S. is increasing twice as fast as all U.S. businesses. Women are owners of 9.1 million businesses, account for 35% of all businesses, employ 27.5 million workers, and they generate $3.6 trillion in revenues. Among the women entrepreneurs who will be honored at the event are: Tina Cordova, president/CEO, Queston Construction; Lurita Doan, president, New Technology Management; Rebecca Matthais, president/COO of Mothers Work; and Dr. Taryn Rose, president and founder of Taryn Rose International Inc.
