WESTBROOK, Maine – Senate President Pro-Tem Mike Michaud, also a long-time board member of Eastmill FCU, has won his bid to be the Democratic nominee for the open Congressional seat in Maine's second district. Four-term Congressman John Baldacci, who is running as the Democratic nominee in the race to be Maine's Governor, recently vacated the seat. Thanking credit unions across the state for the support, Senator Michaud credits them with his victory in the tightly contested race for the nomination and the right to run in the general election in the fall. Final election results showed that Senator Michaud received 31% of the vote compared with his closest challenger, State Senator Susan Longley who had 27% of the vote.
