The National Treasury Employees Union elected its nextpresident Tuesday at its 55th national convention.

Tony Reardon, a 25-year NTEU veteran, received 89% of the votesin the election. He most recently served as NTEU's nationalexecutive vice president and will replace ColleenM. Kelley, according to a news release. Kelley has been NTEU'spresident since 1999 and is retiring.

“I am honored and humbled by the confidence placed in me by NTEUdelegates,” Reardon said in a prepared statement. “I am committedto building on Colleen's legacy and strengthening NTEU's role asthe voice of the federal workforce on Capitol Hill, at theagencies, in the media and in the courts.”

Reardon was first hired at NTEU to serve as the union's operations manager. As the chiefoperating executive, he was responsible for NTEU's day-to-dayoperations including finance, technology and member services. In2013, he became NTEU's national executive vice president, theunion's second-highest elected position, according to therelease.

Replacing him as national executive vice president will be JimBailey, who began his career as an assistant counsel in Chicago andCalifornia and later opened NTEU's Denver field office, where heserved as national counsel for 18 years.

The new officers will be sworn in on Aug. 13, the closing day ofNTEU's convention.

NTEU represents 150,000 employees in 31 agencies anddepartments.
