Encouraging member engagement and fostering employee wellnesswere among the goals in designing SAC Federal Credit Union's new$25 million corporate headquarters, which recently opened inPapillion, Neb., an Omaha suburb, the credit union said.

The 94,000-square-foot building will accommodate the creditunion's projected growth for the next 20 to 30 years, according toGail DeBoer, president of the $694 million, 79,000-member SACFCU.

“We are excited to be completing this major milestone projectfor the credit union,” DeBoer said. “The building symbolizes thegrowth and strength of the credit union.”

The four-level headquarters features innovative banking anddesign solutions to eliminate traditional teller lines, includingallowing members to securely access safety deposit boxes withbiometric technology, the credit union said.

Initially, the building will house 115 of the credit union's 220employees, who will have access to indoor lounges, outdoor patios,a fully equipped kitchen and the CU Fit center, featuring gymequipment, a yoga studio and locker rooms, the credit unionsaid.

Uniting corporate functions under one roof will enhance memberservices and reduce overall costs, SAC FCU said.

“The credit union's mission of being our members' trustedfinancial partner, plus our behavioral values – including caringthrough collaboration, honesty and transparency and criticalthinking – guided the construction and the interior planning of thenew headquarters,” DeBoer added.

Omaha-based architect and project partner Leo A Daly helped toensure the use of sustainable building materials, energy-efficientlighting systems and geothermal heating and cooling, the creditunion said.

“Overall, our intention was to develop an inviting atmospherefor all who enter the building,” DeBoer said. “From the clear glassoffice doors to open-air workspaces, each interior decision wasmade to increase collaboration and communication throughout ourbusiness.”

The large atrium features a floating staircase and curtain wallsystem with clear glass panes, which enhance energy efficiency byallowing natural lighting, the credit union said.

A first-floor community meeting room is available for SAC'snonprofit and community partners to help support their work, thecredit union said.

|

SAC will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony May 7and a community open house May 17.
