You may already know that it'simportant to optimize your LinkedIn profile.But your presence on other platforms may also need optimizing.

So before you start tackling that in-depth Twitter marketingcampaign or paying to promote your tweets, make sure you have yourbases covered. Here's a checklist for optimizing your Twitterprofile:

1. Profilepicture. Your profile picture/avataris going to be the first thing people see. Use a company logo or becreative and use a picture of a person or character. Just make surethat whatever image it is, it represents the company as awhole.

If possible, use a colored background, as this will help yourbrand stand out in your prospect's feed.

2. Twitterhandle. Your Twitter handle is the same as yourTwitter URL, so it should be an obvious choice that reinforces yourbrand identity. If your company name is already taken, you can becreative with abbreviations, but we recommend you stay away fromunderscores.

Now that you have a Twitter handle, promote it. Incorporate itinto all your marketing materials so that your prospects andclients will know where to find you.

3. Companybio. This is your chance to introduce yourself. Thechallenge is to use only 160 characters. Write a clear, concise biothat describes yourbrand and products or services. If you have an opportunityto throw in a few keywords, go for it. Twitter also gives you theability to include live links in your bio, so you can drive trafficto a specific product page or another social profile.

Use URL abbreviations for these links, so you don't wasteprecious characters.
