Longtime credit union executiveBob Schumacher has retired again, this time from the ParagonConsulting Group.

Schumacher, who retired in December 2011 as CEO of the $85million MountainCrest Credit Union in Everett, Wash., announced hislatest departure Feb. 16 at the Credit Union Volunteer Leadership Institute on Feb. 16 inHawaii.

Schumacher had participated in the creation of the VLI with JimThis and Mark Johnson about 18 years ago, and had rejoined Paragonrecently, said an announcement Monday. This will continue aspresident of Paragon, now a CUSO of the $883 million TwinStarCredit Union in Lacey, Wash.

“As Bob, and his wife, Diane, segue into their new life, wewanted to … to honor his contributions, but also to say thanks fora great ride together,” This said in the announcement.

According to the Northwest Credit Union Association, Schumacherwas recruited into the credit union movement 37 years ago bymeeting planners for CUNA while he was working as a hotel managerin Madison, Wis.

Schumacher spent eight years at CUNA, 12 years at the creditunion leagues in Washington and Florida, two years at a mortgageCUSO and 15 years at MountainCrest. He was active in WorldCouncil of Credit Union efforts in the Philippines and was one of10 people who were part of the inaugural class of InternationalCUDEs. He continues on the advisory council for the BizKid$ programat the National Credit Union Foundation.
