The National Credit Union Foundation in Madison, Wis., isaccepting applications from credit unions for 2014 Biz Kid$ Financial Education Grants.

Applications are available online at the Foundation's website.The deadline to submit a grant proposal is March 31.

Eligible applicants include credit unions, CUSOs, state creditunion associations, state credit union foundations and any otherorganizations owned or controlled by credit unions, said DanielleBrown, director of development and donor relations for NCUF.

“We are looking to fund innovative programs that improve thefinancial education of youth through the use of the Biz Kid$program and encourage you to apply,” Brown added.

Launched nationally in 2008, Biz Kid$ is a financial literacyinitiative that includes an Emmy-winning TV series, free classroomcurriculum, outreach activities and a website.

Grants may be used to fund innovative programs that improve thefinancial education of youth through innovative and engagingactivities incorporating Biz Kid$ materials. Projects may engageteachers, students, education leaders, local PBS stations, orcommunity stakeholders through events, activities, and/orcurriculum distribution. Funds may not be used as a cash donationto a third party.

Brown said the goal of the grant program is to extend the reach ofthe Biz Kid$ series beyond broadcast into the community by engagingthe credit union movement in using the curriculum.

A coalition of over 300 credit unions and affiliates from acrossthe country provide funding for Biz Kid$, the NCUF said.
