In an collaborative effort to encourage consumers to getfinancially fit in 2014, credit unions, leagues and other industrygroups will come together to make it happen this weekend at theNBC4 Health & Fitness Expo.

More than 85,000 attendees will descend on the WashingtonConvention Center Jan. 11- 12 for the event.

Credit unions have partnered with SavvyMoney to bring consumerfinancial expert, Jean Chatzky, to the expo, as well as offer free financialcheckups for attendees. They will also host a seminar on financialfitness featuring Chatzky at 2 p.m. Jan. 11.

Following the presentation, Chatzky will do an autograph signingof her book, Money Rules: The Simple Path to LifelongSecurity, at the Dollars & Sense Credit Union Pavilion,booth #2333.

Expo attendees will also get the opportunity to take theSavvyMoney Checkup, a free financial assessment that has beendesigned especially for credit union members to evaluate debt andexpenses relative to one's income and offers suggestions to helpimprove their situation, according to the MD|DC Credit UnionAssociation.

In addition to 21 area credit unions, the MD|DC Credit UnionAssociation, Virginia Credit Union League, The Credit UnionFoundation and CUNA will participate in the event.
