The Credit Union Association of the Dakotas in Pierre, S.D., launched a state-wide billboard campaign in support of the credit union tax exemption. The campaign counters advocacy initiatives by the South Dakota Bankers Association, which has been requesting local governing bodies approve resolutions to support a federal tax on credit unions.

So far, SDBA's efforts have not been successful, according to CUAD.

The SDBA has a page on its website that promotes its Taxation Equality Awareness Campaign, which features presentation resources for bankers, the public, and the media. In addition, the page lists newspaper articles and recordings of local council and county meetings that show local officials discussing the issue.
