Through a new program, the Small Business Administration andofficials in Canada are looking to reduce regulatory burdens forsmall businesses.

Under the Small Business Lens program, the U.S.-Canadasmall business team for the Regulatory Cooperation Council isdeveloping tools and provisions that better integrate smallbusiness considerations in the design of regulations, according tothe SBA.

The collaboration “can increase sensitivity and responsivenessto the needs of small businesses, particularly those engaged incross-border trade,” the SBA said.

The SBA said it will update stakeholders on progress made, andseek feedback on, the Small Business Lens in a webinar set for 1 p.m. EST on Jan. 17.

Earlier this year, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business released a reportthat surveyed nearly 13,000 small business owners and found that credit unions scored highmarks when it came to serving small businesses.

Credit unions were also better at serving micro businesses, which was defined as those having fewer thanfive employees, according to the CFIB report Battle of the Banks.
