Bitcoin evangelist Jon Holmquist and Internet freedom activists,Fight for the Future, have organized the event.

“Bitcoin Black Friday is an awesome way to bring thewhole Internet community together at a time when Bitcoin needs asmuch mainstream attention as possible,” said Holmes Wilson, Fightfor the Future co-founder.

“Even though it seems like bitcoin is going strong, it won't bepolitically safe until it's widely used by average Internet users –that's already happening, but we're speeding things up with BitcoinBlack Friday, and making it fun in the process.”

By bringing fees to almost zero, Wilson said bitcoinis leveling the playing field while financial services continue tocharge large fees.

“Bitcoin is a great tool for merchants at every level because itis decentralized (making it nearly free to send and receive money). The deals merchants can offer are a lot lower than any dealsthey've been able to offer before,” Holmquist said.
