The State Employees' Credit Union Foundation, the charitable armof the 1.8 million member State Employees' Credit Union recentlymade a $1 million foundtion to hospice in Western NorthCarolina.

The $26 billion credit union is headquartered in Raleigh, NorthCarolina.

The facility supported is the first inpatient hospice facilityto the healthcare community and citizens of the six-county area ofMacon, Swain, Graham, Clay, Cherokee and Jackson Counties. The SECU Foundation announced its commitment of a $1 millionchallenge grant in August to assist the Hospice House Foundation ofWestern North Carolina's Capital Campaign efforts. SECUFoundation Board Chair Jim Barber presented the check to theHospice House Foundation on behalf of State Employees' Credit Union(SECU) members who fund the Foundation.

Michelle Alderson, Chairperson of the Hospice House Foundationof WNC was on hand for the acceptance. She commented, “We arevery grateful for the generosity of SECU members through theirFoundation. This grant will help bring a much needed HospiceHouse to the residents of our six area counties as well as theQualla Boundary – Cherokee Reservation.”
