Paul Gentile, CUNA's executive vice president of communications, told Credit Union Times he is excited about becoming the president of the Massachusetts Credit Union League at a time when credit unions are using more resources than ever to comply with federal regulations.

In his new role, announced on Friday, Gentile will also serve as president of the New Hampshire Credit Union League and the Credit Union Association of Rhode Island.  He takes on the new position effective January 6, 2014.

"It's a great opportunity to go there and provide leadership on the advocacy front. It's a very important time for credit unions right now. There are a lot of changes going on in a number of areas on the regulatory front, on the legislative front; consumers are finally waking up to credit unions so this is really a great time to be involved in the system. I love the league system and I think it's a great opportunity to lead. I'm excited about it," said Gentile on Friday.
