Bangor Federal Credit Union ismourning the loss of founder and former CEO Dennis Soucy, who diedSaturday at the age of 83.

As one of the founding members of St. John's Credit Union, nowBangor FCU, he served as president from 1956 until his retirementin 2008.

Soucy is he is credited with implementing changes that wouldhelp better position the Bangor, Maine, credit union to grow.Currently the credit union has more than $124 million in assets andserves some 14,035 members.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Soucy served on theBangor City Council for six terms and was one of the few residentsto serve three terms as mayor.

He is survived by his wife, Constance Barton Soucy, fourchildren and many grandchildren.
