For the past six weeks, students from Hillsborough CommunityCollege in Tampa have been attending a free weekly financialliteracy class put on by the $5.5 billion Suncoast Schools FederalCredit Union. Topics such as dealing with debt and budgeting forlife after graduation were covered by Brian Smellie, a memberfinancial associate at Suncoast Schools.

“As a recent college graduate, I understand the pitfallsstudents can easily get into. As tempting as it may be to puteverything on a credit card or acquire other types of debt, Ibelieve that immersing yourself in financial education, goalsetting and budgeting, college students and young professionals canenter the workforce financially healthy,” Smellie said.
