The $184 million Tobyhanna Federal Credit Union in Scranton,Pa., is joining the ranks of credit unions now offering off-hoursservice from live tellers through video teller machines.

The 22,200-member credit union has installed two APTRAInteractive Teller machines from NCR Corp. and plans to makeremote tellers available 24 hours a day, seven days week. Ineffect, that's increasing its branch service hours by 78%, thecredit union said.

CEO Sean Jelen said, “What we really liked … was that it givesus an efficient way of extending our service hours, so that we canimprove our members' experience without increasing theircosts.”

An NCR spokesman said the Atlanta-based company now has morethan 60 financial institution clients in more than 30 states usingthe video teller machines.
