Schools in four Texas school districts have shared $340,000 fromthe 57,000-member, $764 million Texas Trust Credit Unionsince the launch of the credit union's Spirit Debit Rewardscard.

The program began in August 2011. The school districts shared$225,000 from the card program from August 2012 to August 2013.

The 14 participating schools, two administrative offices and oneeducational foundation receive 15 cents every time someone swipesthe affinity debit card.Cedar Hill High School, the highest earning individual school,received $47,856.81 from the program for the year period.

Collectively, Spirit Debit cardholders have made more than twomillion purchases with the card, the credit union reported.

“Texas Trust has given us a tool to easily raise money tosupplement our budget, which continues to be squeezed,” said TammyMariani, principal at Cedar Hill High School. “The Spirit card alsoallows alumni, or anyone in the community, to support the highschool indirectly just by using the Spirit Reward card for everydaypurchases.”

The Spirit Debit Reward card is part of Texas Trust's Spirit inAction campaign. Schools earn additional cash rewards when membersopen checking accounts or take out auto loans, personal loans ormortgages, the credit union said.
