Small and low-income credit unions are now being offeredtraining videos for their supervisory committee members.

The NCUA said the videos from its Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives includes six modules,all 10 minutes or less, addressing topics that include monitoringmanagement activities, annual auditions, member accountverification and handling member complaints.

“Our intent is that by providing free, accessible training itwill be easier to recruit volunteers and increase the effectivenessof committee members,” NCUA Chair Debbie Matz said in an agencyannouncement.

“We chose the supervisory committee as our target audiencebecause of the critical role these committee members play inensuring the safety and soundness of the credit union,” Matzsaid.

The video series is available online. The agency said more operational and regulatorytraining modules will follow next year.
