To better reflect its larger field of membership and expandedservices, GaPac Community Federal Credit Union in Bellingham, Wash. haschanged its name to WestEdge Credit Union, the $52 millioninstitution announced recently during a community appreciationevent.

WestEdge joins a growing list of credit unions changing their brand to better reflect more diverse membershipsand services.

The 4,000-member credit union also introduced a new website,introduction videoand logo, which pays tribute to Georgia Pacific West, the papermill that the credit union was named after. Following the mill'sclosure in 2002, the charter was expanded to allow all WhatcomCounty residents to join.

The new WestEdge brand is designed to make people aware that thecredit union is no longer just open to employees of GeorgiaPacific, officials said.
