The adage, “every cloud has a silver lining,” seems true forDanelle Loyd, a member of the $808 million Credit Union ONE in Ferndale, Mich.

Loyd's bicycle was stolen earlier this month outside a localbranch, but she recently received a new bike from a good samaritanwho is a vendor with the 106,000-member suburban Detroit creditunion.

Credit Union ONE vendor Mike Lammers with the Airea Company, anoffice furniture supplier in Farmington Hills, Mich., donated thenew bicycle because he happened to be in the branch when Loydreported the crime and saw that the young woman was upset aboutlosing her bike, said Credit Union ONE.

A few days after the incident, Lammers delivered a new bike tothe branch and credit union officials called Loyd to share theunexpected good news.

“I am so appreciative and feel so blessed that someone thoughtof me and gave me a new bicycle,” Loyd told Credit Union ONEofficials who coordinated the charitable gesture.

“These are the stories that we seldom get to hear, the ones thatshow the true “people helping people” spirit is alive and wellwithin credit unions,” Jan White, Credit Union ONE Manager of RiskManagement, said in a press release. “We greatly appreciate workingwith people like Mike Lammers; he certainly is a good example ofpaying it forward.”
