The $1.5 billion United Federal Credit Union of St. Joseph, Mich. has brokenground for a $1.5 million, 6,400-square foot branch in Fletcher,N.C that is expected to open in early 2014.

The full-service branch will include multiple drive-thru lanes,an ATM, safe deposit boxes, an expanded member service area, and acommunity meeting room. It will employ nine initially, includingstaff from another location.

“The new branch will also offer the services of a mortgage loanofficer and business service advisor in one convenient location,”said UFCU Vice President of Member Relations/North Carolina LeeBeason.

More than 125 individuals attended the groundbreaking ceremonylast week, including Fletcher Mayor Pro-Tem Eddie Henderson and BobWilliford, executive director of the local Chamber of Commerce.

“We're excited to see our new Fletcher branch take shape. Itwill offer an enhanced banking experience for members and promoteregional growth,” said UFCU Branch Manager Steve Clark.

UFCU alsooperates 23 branches in Arkansas, Indiana, Michigan, NorthCarolina, Nevada, and Ohio.
