The $159 million Advance Financial Federal Credit Union in Schererville, Ind., has promoted Jerry Gomez to the newly created position of executive vice president.
Gomez has been with the 19,300-member AFFCU for nearly 10 years and was named vice president of operations in charge of its three branches in 2005.
“His broad base of experience in retail banking, lending, loan servicing, accounting and marketing has made him a valuable contributor to the AFFCU team,” the credit union’s Board of Directors said in its announcement.
A veteran of more than 30 years in financial services, Gomez spearheaded the development of an in-school branch of the credit union at Hammond Academy of Science and Technology that helps to bring real world financial knowledge to the students and was instrumental in the expansion of AFFCU’s field of membership to include all of Porter County, Ind., AAFCU said.
AFFCU is open to the public in Lake and Porter counties and has branches in East Chicago, Schererville and Gary.
