The $421 million, 46,800-member Generations FCU in San Antonio has partnered with former Spurs star George "The Iceman" Gervin for two years now, helping to build financial literacy skills among the more than 70 students who got summer jobs through the George Gervin Youth Center and the Gervin Summer Learning Program.

Along with employment the program provides career development skills and general workplace etiquette lessons, and the summer begins with a GFCU checking and savings account for each student, with 80% of their direct deposit going into checking and 20% into savings.

On June 28, the students volunteered with Habitat For Humanity on the city's far southwest side. They painted, raised exterior walls and helped build more than six houses that are currently under construction in the neighborhood.
