The 70,000-member, $1.7 billion TechnologyCredit Union in San Jose, Calif., and Houston-based Cardtronics Inc., thelargest independent ATM deployer in the country, have teamed up tolet members know about fee-free ATMs that they might bemissing.

Dubbed FeeAlert, the Cardtronics program takes data fromparticipating Tech CU members' ATM use and then sends the membersan email if they pay a fee at an ATM which charges one.

Cardtronics is the parent company of the Allpoint Network, anationwide system of fee-free ATMs in which Tech CUparticipates.

If a Tech CU member who is auto enrolled in the program pays afee for ATM use, the ATM use data is sent to the FeeFree platformwhich then generates an email to the member that alerts them, usinggeo-location information, of fee-free ATMs that were close by andwhich might be used instead in the future.
