The Senate Banking Committee on Thursday announced it willconduct a confirmation hearing for NCUA Board nominee Rick Metsger on Thursday, June 27.
|The 10 a.m. hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building willinclude four other nominees, including U.S. Rep. Mel Watt (D-N.C.),who was nominated to serve as director of the Federal HousingFinance Administration.
|Other nominees on the panel will be Jason Furman of New York, tobe a member and chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, andKara M. Stein and Michael Piwowar, both nominated to be members ofthe Securities & Exchange Commission.
|Pending approval by the Senate panel, Metsger, a Democrat andformer Oregon state senator, would face a vote from the full Senatebefore he could take a position on the NCUA Board, filling the seatvacated last year by GigiHyland.
|NAFCU had announced Tuesday Metsger's nomination hearing would bescheduled for next week, but at the time a committee spokesmanwould not confirm the report.
