Eight individuals will receive the Credit Union Association of New York's 2013 Recognition Awards at its annual meeting and convention on June 14 at Sagamore Resort in Lake George.

The judges looked for individuals and credit unions that show an ongoing dedication to the credit union philosophy, community involvement, volunteerism, professionalism, and youth financial education, the league said.

The award categories and recipients include:

  • New York Credit Union Hall of Fame Inductee: John Felton, president/CEO of the $60 million Southern Chautauqua FCU in Lakewood;
  • Outstanding Volunteers: Donald Bruning, board president of the $66 million Great Erie FCU in Orchard Park; Don Briner, associate board member of the $179 million Hudson River Community CU in Corinth; and Ann Tyler, board chair of the $1.2 billion AmeriCU in Rome.
  • Outstanding Professionals: Marsha Brauer, manager/CEO of the $19 million Clarence Community & Schools FCU in Clarence.; William Carhart, president/CEO of the $53 million Oswego County FCU in Oswego; and Lisa Whitaker, president/CEO of the $850 million CFCU Community CU in Ithaca.
  • Outstanding Young Professional: Lisa Totaro, marketing associate of the $395 million Sunmark FCU in Latham.
