CUNA Mutual Group's property and casualty claims disaster teamhas been in contact with the Oklahoma Credit Union League andcredit unions in the Oklahoma City area since a destructive tornadostruck the area Monday.

“As of late yesterday afternoon, the only credit union reportingdamage was the Tinker FCU branch in Moore,” said Phil Tschudy, CUNAMutual spokesman

The $3 billion Tinker FCU based in Oklahoma City, said itsbranch in hard-hit Moore, Okla., experienced some damages butemployees were protected from the tornado by taking cover in thecredit union's vault.

Meanwhile, CUNA Mutual is making arrangements to get adjustersinto the area as soon as authorities allow, Tschudy said, addingthat may not happen until later Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Any policyholder credit union that has sustained damage shouldcontact CUNA Mutual's disaster claims line at 800-637-2676, whichis staffed 24 hours a day and seven days a week, according toTschudy.
