Staff at the $474 million IC Federal Credit Union in Fitchburg,Mass., had a particularly special cause in mind for their monthlyJeans for Charity effort on April 19. Nearly $400 was raised forBoston Marathon bombing victims. In the past three years, the staffhas averaged $800 each time and raised nearly $30,000 for dozens ofcharities, including the Montachusett Interfaith HospitalityNetwork, Ginny's Helping Hands, ARC of Opportunity, Animal Care inEducation and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

“Typically our donations are collected monthly, but this one-daydonation, added at the last minute to help our friends in Boston,was very successful,” said Susan Coleman, IC's human resourcesmanager.

Added the credit union's board chairman, Ken Stone Jr., “To myknowledge, the program is unique to IC and I am very proud of ouremployees for their compassion and generosity to a community inneed.”
