Staff at the $474 million IC Federal Credit Union in Fitchburg,Mass., had a particularly special cause in mind for their monthlyJeans for Charity effort on April 19. Nearly $400 was raised forBoston Marathon bombing victims. In the past three years, the staffhas averaged $800 each time and raised nearly $30,000 for dozens ofcharities, including the Montachusett Interfaith HospitalityNetwork, Ginny's Helping Hands, ARC of Opportunity, Animal Care inEducation and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
|“Typically our donations are collected monthly, but this one-daydonation, added at the last minute to help our friends in Boston,was very successful,” said Susan Coleman, IC's human resourcesmanager.
|Added the credit union's board chairman, Ken Stone Jr., “To myknowledge, the program is unique to IC and I am very proud of ouremployees for their compassion and generosity to a community inneed.”
