The $829 million, 56,100-member USAlliance FCU in Rye, N.Y., hasmerged the $970,000, 473-member UniteHere FCU in New YorkCity.

UniteHere began in 1937 and, formerly known as the DressmakersCredit Union, served garment, food service, hotel and health careworkers in the city.

USAlliance said in its announcement that the small credit unionhad initiated a search several months ago for potential mergerpartners.

USAlliance now has two branches in Manhattan and said the mergerallows it to expand its presence in the New York City area.
