Members of DuTrac Community Credit Union can now go mobile ontheir quest to find that perfect vehicle.

The $565 million credit union in Dubuque, Iowa, said it hasintroduced the AskAuto app, which is designed to make shopping fora car and applying for a loan easier.

Created by CUNA Mutual Group, AskAuto made its debut at CUNA'sGovernmental Affairs Conference in February.

Shoppers can scan vehicle identification numbers to get averageretail costs and EPA mileage estimates, according to DuTrac. They can also make notes and rate all the vehicles theylike. The AskAuto app saves the information for comparisonlater.

Meanwhile, DuTrac said it can send messages about different loanoptions and dealer partnerships that might interest the AskAuto appuser during the vehicle shopping process.

Once the shopper has decided on their car, they can apply fortheir loan anytime or anywhere using their smartphone or tablet,according to the credit union.

In most states, shoppers can scan their driver's license toprefill portions of the loan application, DuTrac said. The AskAutoapp also prefills vehicle information.

The credit union said the app is free and available fordownload.
