Steve Pierson is retiring on June 30 as president/CEO of the$148 million BluCurrent Credit Union in Springfield, Mo.

Pierson has been with the formerPostal Federal Employees Credit Union since 1975 and itspresident/CEO since 1977.
He is only the second president in the 18,900-member creditunion's 84-year history and will be succeeded by current ExecutiveVice President Craig Tabor, the credit union's board said in itsannouncement on Tuesday.
|Under Pierson's leadership, the credit union has grown from one branch and $8 million in assetsto its current $148 million in assets and six branches, includingthree in Springfield.
|BluCurrent underwent a name change from Postal Federal Community Credit Union in2011 and now is open to anyone living or working in 10 southwestMissouri counties.
|“I hope by my actions over the last 38 years, I've served ourmembers well and brought value to them and their families,” saidPierson, who said he plans to spend more time with his wife andeight grandchildren.

Tabor has been with BluCurrentsince 2004. His 23 years of experience also include stints as areamanager for Ent FCU in Colorado Springs, Colo., and vice presidentof operations for Qualtrust CU in San Angelo, Texas, BluCurrentsaid.
“I consider it a tremendous honor to be chosen to help lead sucha great credit union. I'm so thankful for all Steve has done toprepare me for this transition – I'm definitely going to missseeing him in the office,” Tabor said in the credit union'sannouncement.
