Waters disagreed that the D.C. Circuit Court's January rulingthat President Barack Obama's National Labor Relations Boardappointments were unconstitutional also invalidates Cordray'sappointment.

|

“It is inappropriate and unwarranted to prematurely andunilaterally conclude that the … case warrants blocking DirectorCordray from fulfilling his statutory obligation totestify before the Committee,” the California Democrat wrote toHensarling in a letter on Tuesday.

Banning Cordray from testifying will impede congressionaloversight of the CFPB, Waters said, and she urged Hensarling to reconsider hisposition and schedule a hearing to allow Cordray to deliver theCFPB's semi-annual congressional report.

“If you choose to continue to ignore the law, then I am preparedto use the rules of the committee to provide the director theopportunity to give testimony before the committee,” she wrote.
