Staff and members of the $376 million Hawaii Community FederalCredit Union in Kailua Kona got together to donate 1,012 pounds offood and $1,422 in cash donations to the annual Food BasketFeed-a-Thon. Food Basket spokesperson Tommy “Kahikina” Chong saidthe effort will result in 5,420 pounds of food to help feed thehungry on the Big Island.

The 40,900-member Hawaii Community FCU also also sponsored theKona Police Department's Masters Crew in the recent 25thAnnual Law Enforcement Canoe Regatta held at the Kailua Pier. The event drew paddlers from law enforcement agencies across thestate and raised $6,500 for the West Hawaii Special Olympics.
