JetStream Federal Credit Union in Miami Lakes, Fla., is mourningthe passing of its former longtime vice president of lending,Fernando Reyes.

Reyes died on Friday after a long battle with cancer, the creditunion said. He had served as vice president of lending at the17,500-member JetStream Federal from 1998 to 2011.

“Fernando possessed a passion for his work that was onlysurpassed by his love for family,” the $134 million JetStreamFederal said in a statement.

President/CEO Jeanne Kucey, current chair of the NAFCU Board,said, “All of the JetStream team members and volunteers will missFernando's sense of humor, personal strength, and love forlife. We express our deepest sympathies to his family.”

Reyes' son, Jace Reyes, is currently CEO of the $120 millionMiami Postal Service Credit Union.

The elder Reyes spent 30 years in financial services. JetStreamFederal is 66 years old and has branches in Miami Lakes, Doraland Hialeah, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
