Shawn Lee Nelson, former vice president of lending for the $519million Members Choice Credit Union in Houston, faces a jury trial inTexas Federal Court in May over allegations that he embezzled morethan $340,000 from three member accounts.

According to court documents, Nelson has pleaded not guilty to12 counts of embezzlement. Federal prosecutors allege the fraud wasdiscovered in 2011.

Federal prosecutors allege the former credit union executiveused the funds to pay credit card debt, taxes and other personalexpenses.

Nelson is free on $100,000 bond. His trial is scheduled for May13.
