Shawn Lee Nelson, former vice president of lending for the $519million Members Choice Credit Union in Houston, faces a jury trial inTexas Federal Court in May over allegations that he embezzled morethan $340,000 from three member accounts.
|According to court documents, Nelson has pleaded not guilty to12 counts of embezzlement. Federal prosecutors allege the fraud wasdiscovered in 2011.
|Federal prosecutors allege the former credit union executiveused the funds to pay credit card debt, taxes and other personalexpenses.
|Nelson is free on $100,000 bond. His trial is scheduled for May13.
