To help assist small and minority-owned businesses, Workers'Credit Union said it has made a $20,000 contribution to the NorthCentral Massachusetts Development Corp.

The development corporation works with local financialinstitutions to assist businesses throughout the region, said the$913 million Workers'CU in Fitchburg, Mass.

David McKeehan, president of North Central MassachusettsDevelopment Corp., said the credit union's donation will beinstrumental towards its goal of increasing economic opportunitiesfor residents and businesses.

Contributing to the effort was in keeping with the creditunion's goal of doing what's right for the community, said Doug Petersen, president/CEO of Workers' CU.

“The more we can foster economic opportunities, the more it willhelp create a stronger and healthier community,” Petersen said.
