After nearly 38 years, Frank Berrish, president/CEO of the157,200-member VISIONS Federal Credit Union in Endicott, N.Y., hasannounced he will retire on May 1.
|Recently inducted to the Credit Union House Hall of Fame in recognition of hiscommitment and service to the credit union movement, Berrish hashelped VISIONS, a onetime IBM employees' credit union hard hit byBig Blue layoffs, grow from $25 million in assets and threebranches $3.1 billion and 31 branches.
|In addition, making his local community a more viable place tolive and work fueled his passion for economic development in theSouthern Tier, Central and Finger Lakes regions of New York, hiscredit union said.
|Berrish also led his credit union through its conversion to acommunity institution and recent mergers.
|Berrish has served on various national panels, including theFed's Thrift Institution Advisory Council (2005-2007), and withCUNA and NAFCU.
|Plans are under way to name his successor by the end of thismonth, VISIONS said
