After nearly 38 years, Frank Berrish, president/CEO of the157,200-member VISIONS Federal Credit Union in Endicott, N.Y., hasannounced he will retire on May 1.

Recently inducted to the Credit Union House Hall of Fame in recognition of hiscommitment and service to the credit union movement, Berrish hashelped VISIONS, a onetime IBM employees' credit union hard hit byBig Blue layoffs, grow from $25 million in assets and threebranches $3.1 billion and 31 branches.

In addition, making his local community a more viable place tolive and work fueled his passion for economic development in theSouthern Tier, Central and Finger Lakes regions of New York, hiscredit union said.

Berrish also led his credit union through its conversion to acommunity institution and recent mergers.

|

Berrish has served on various national panels, including theFed's Thrift Institution Advisory Council (2005-2007), and withCUNA and NAFCU.

Plans are under way to name his successor by the end of thismonth, VISIONS said
