Keith Kauffield has been named president/CEO of the Universityof Nebraska Federal Credit Union in Lincoln, Neb.

Kauffield has 16 years of senior management experience inoperations and administration, most recently as vicepresident/chief administrative officer at the $446 million Air Academy FCU in Colorado Springs, Colo., his new employersaid.

Sandra Lineberry, the Nebraska credit union's board chair, saidin its announcement that “NUFCU will be in great hands with Keith,who brings outstanding expertise in the credit union industry,including a deep background in leveraging people and processes thatwill serve NUFCU well.”

Kauffield succeeds Bob Torell, who said he plans to retire afterthe credit union's annual meeting on April 17. Torell was been withNUFCU since 1982, when it had about $4 million in assets and 3,000members.

The credit union now has $81 million in assets and 10,200members and moved into a new facility in 2012.

“Because of Torell's leadership, our credit union is strongertoday and can better serve our members,” Lineberry said in aseparate statement posted by the university's news service.

“His knowledge was crucial in our expansion to the new buildingand is the reason we have a broad range of products available tomembers. We will miss Bob, but I know with the staff and volunteerswe have at the credit union we will continue to build on thefoundation created by him,” she said.
