Credit Union ONE, Ferndale, Mich., announced that a team of approximately 55 staff and family members walked this year in the 23rd annual Walk for Warmth at the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills. The Walk for Warmth is an annual event that raises funds and promotes awareness of the emergency needs of low-income people. All funds raised benefit those who face heat-related emergencies during Michigan's harsh winters. This was the credit union's sixth year in the walk, and the team continues to grow each year. This year Credit Union ONE, a Heart of Bronze sponsor, contributed close to $1,000 to the Walk for Warmth, which included walker pledges and a corporate donation made on behalf of everyone that walked. In 2012, 405 families and over 1,100 individuals were assisted by the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency with funds from Walk for Warmth, and the need is even greater this year, the credit union said.  As always, 100% of all proceeds go back into the community, it added. The goal this year is $180,000 for the walk, and by all indications this will be exceeded, Credit Union ONE said.

Ent Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., launched its annual Care and Share food drive campaign, which  included monetary donations, a turkey drive and collection barrels at Ent's corporate offices and its 27 service centers. Through all the various collection channels, Ent was able to provide 3,770 pounds of food to the local Care and Share and Food Bank of the Rockies programs.

Genisys Credit Union, Auburn Hills, MI, was the premier sponsor for OLHSA's recent Walk for Warmth event, which was held at Great Lakes Crossing. Additionally, Jackie Buchanan, president/CEO, announced that Genisys will be donating over $30,000 to the cause, which was raised by the hard work of members and her employees.  The purpose of OLHSA's Walk for Warmth is to bring the community together to raise funds and awareness for emergency utility assistance. It is a family friendly walk-a-thon event where 100% of the funds raised are used to warm hearts and heat homes in Oakland County. This year marked the golden anniversary of the event– the 23rd annual Walk for Warmth. Ronald B. Borngesser, OLHSA CEO, said the energy and enthusiasm of the walkers and sponsors is heartwarming and truly makes a difference in the lives of those in need of a helping hand during the cold winter months. In addition to the $30,000 Genisys Credit Union raised for Walk for Warmth, nearly 75 of their employees and families were present at the event.
