Nearly 1,300 of the 57,800 members of the $741 million XceedFinancial Credit Union in El Segundo, Calif., have signed up todeposit checks by smartphone and tablet since the service launchedin January, the Los Angeles-area credit union said this week.

Xceed Mobile Deposit, using remote deposit capture technology from Intuit FinancialServices, functions as inside the credit union's secured apps foriPhone and Android.

Xceed said more than 250 members already are active users.

Nearly 1,300 members have registered for Xceed Mobile Depositsince the service's rollout in January, and more than 250 membersare already active users. According to Xceed Financial Presidentand Chief Executive Teresa Y. Freeborn, the release of Xceed MobileDeposit demonstrates the credit union's commitment to providingsecure, user-friendly, time-saving services to members when theyare on the go.

“Our members already value the access we provide through ourexpansive network of Financial Centers and ATMs, as well as XceedOnline with uTransfer, and Xceed Mobile,” said Xceed President/CEOTeresa Freeborn.

“Xceed Mobile Deposit takes that convenience to the next levelby enabling members to deposit checks from their smartphones whenthey don't want to bother with mail or making an in-persondeposit,” said Freeborn, whose credit union now has 15 offices insix states.
