To assist families that have children with special needs,CommunityAmerica Credit Union has enhanced its financial planningprogram.

Through an alliance with broker-dealer CUSO Financial Services LP, the $1.8 billion cooperative inLenexa, Kan., has added the Special Needs Planning Center to itsFinancial Planning Services Group.

Formed to exclusively serve the special needs community, thecenter is dedicated to assisting families in coordinating theirlegal and financial planning with the intent of preserving governmentbenefits such as Social Security and ensuring the continuity ofquality care for their loved ones, according to CommunityAmerica.

Mike Haggerty, vice president of CommunityAmerica FinancialPlanning Services, said the center will help the credit unionexpand its reach to more families with children with specialneeds.

Scott Adams, founder of the Special Needs Planning Center, saidthe new services will have an impact for years to come.

“We believe the additional resources and the credit union'sunparalleled community outreach and altruistic approach is aperfect match that will enhance the work we do to help Kansas Cityfamilies and future generations live more fulfilling lives,” Adamssaid.
