Tim Cannon, president of the $46 million 1st CreditUnion in Gainesville, Fla., has won the Fred Johnson CEO InstituteScholarship from CUES.

The scholarship, administered by the National Credit UnionFoundation, will provide for Cannon to attend CEO Institutesessions over the next three years at prestigious business schoolsat the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University and theUniversity of Virginia.

The scholarship is named for former CUES president/CEO Fred Johnson, who retired lastyear.

In his scholarship application, CUES said, Cannon said he wantedto attend the CEO Institute to help him help build a strongerfinancial institution to better serve its members.

Cannon has been working for credit unions for eight years. Priorto 1st CU, he was vice president of real estate andcommercial services at the $492 million Florida Credit Union, alsoin Gainesville.
