Florida CEO Wins CUES Institute Scholarship

Tim Cannon, president of the $46 million 1st Credit Union in Gainesville, Fla., has won the Fred Johnson CEO Institute Scholarship from CUES.

The scholarship, administered by the National Credit Union Foundation, will provide for Cannon to attend CEO Institute sessions over the next three years at prestigious business schools at the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University and the University of Virginia.

The scholarship is named for former CUES president/CEO Fred Johnson, who retired last year.

In his scholarship application, CUES said, Cannon said he wanted to attend the CEO Institute to help him help build a stronger financial institution to better serve its members.

Cannon has been working for credit unions for eight years. Prior to 1st CU, he was vice president of real estate and commercial services at the $492 million Florida Credit Union, also in Gainesville.
