The Lawrenceville, Ga., credit union said the name change wasmade to reflect its growth over the past 20 years from its GwinnettCounty base to Barrow, Clarke, DeKalb, Jackson, Oconee and Waltoncounties.

Peach State FCU President/CEO Marshall Boutwell said 26,000 ofits members now live outside Gwinnett County.

“The name Peach State not only acknowledges our entiremembership base, but it also allows for future growth without geographic constraints,” Boutwell said in the52-year-old credit union's announcement about the name change.

He said Peach State FCU's commitment to member service and localschools will not change.

“Our underlying dedication to education is part of ourfoundation. We will continue to support education in ourservice areas through sponsorship of the Teacher of the Yearawards, and awarding student and career advancement scholarships because we believe this tradition should bemaintained,” Boutwell said.
