The $39 million Johnson City Federal Credit Union in JohnsonCity, Tenn., said it has expanded its service area to take in twomore East Tennessee counties.

In addition to Washington County, the 7,300-member JCFCU is nowalso open to people who live, work, attend school or worship inUnicoi and Carter counties, the credit unions.

“We've had requests from neighbors and friends of members tojoin. So we applied to expand our charter and we're excited that itwas approved. We look forward to serving our new members,” saidJCFCU President/CEO Kevin Jones.

The credit union has expanded its membership several times since it opened in 1949to serve Pet Dairy employees. Jones said JCFCU now employees 20people at three locations in Washington County and that he hopes toopen branches in Unicoi and Carter counties in the near future.

“We feel like our customer service is second to none. We offer aquick response and turnaround on loan inquiries, and because we aresmaller than many financial institutions, we really get to know ourmembers. We offer a 'Second Chance Checking Account' for those whomay have been turned down at other places. It goes along with ourphilosophy of people helping people,” Jones said.
