Patelco Raises $42,000 for Hurricane Sandy Relief, Children’s Hospitals

With help from a Facebook fundraising app designed by online cause marketing solutions company CafeGive Social, Patelco Credit Union said it raised $6,535 for American Red Cross’ Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Vowing to match donors’ contributions up to $5,000, the $3.9 billion, Pleasanton, Calif.-based credit union raised its total storm relief donation amount to $11,535, Patelco said.

Additionally, in November and December 2012, Patelco sold $1 snowmen as part of a campaign to raise money for CU4Kids and the Children’s Miracle Network.

Through nearly 7,000 member and employee donations ranging from $1 to $2,386, the credit union raised a total of $30,792. The funds will go directly to programs at the UC Davis Children’s Hospital in Sacramento, Calif. and the Children’s Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, Calif.

“We are very excited about the amount of money we raised and we couldn’t have done this without the hard work of our employees and donations from both employees and members,” said Ken Burns, president/CEO for Patelco. “Here at Patelco, we pride ourselves on our commitment to improving our surrounding communities and this donation drive was a way to give back.”
