With all the talk about recruiting top young talent, ourcuriosity got the best of us with our last LinkedIn poll which asked: Whatpercentage of your senior management team is 49 years old oryounger?

The completely unscientific poll found that 47% of therespondents said a quarter of their senior management team wereunder 49 years old. Some 23% said young professionals made up halftheir senior management team and only 5% said their entire seniormanagement team was under the age of 49.

Roy MacKinnon, vice president of marketing at the $985 millionFirst Entertainment Credit Union in Hollywood, Calif., thought thepoll was interesting but we might have missed the mark.

“Interesting poll but why would this be important in and ofitself? Now if you correlated this poll to the success or lackthereof of the institution, there perhaps the results might bemeaningful, but on their own I don't see that it makes anydifference,” said MacKinnon.

Again the poll had more to do with curiosity as far as lookingat how many young credit union professionals are part of thedecision-making process.

“We're not trying to draw any correlation but that would beinteresting to look at,” said Sarah Snell Cooke,editor-in-chief/publisher of Credit Union Times. “Still, ayoung professional could be the best branch manager/marketingspecialist/lending officer ever and the credit union could still befailing.”
