The SECU Foundation has announced a $2 million challenge grantto build the new SECU Family House at New Hanover Regional MedicalCenter in Wilmington, N.C.

The foundation is funded solely by the 1.8 million members ofthe $25.3 billion State Employees' Credit Union in Raleigh,N.C.

The new hospitality house will provide approximately 24 guestrooms with private baths and a large kitchen and living room forguests to use while their loved ones are being treated at theWilmington hospital, the foundation said.

The challenge grant was provided through a partnership with thehospital, its auxiliary and its foundation, the SECU Foundation said.

“The NHRMC Hospitality House has been offering accommodations topatients and families at NHRMC for many years. Thispartnership will help us build a new facility, while also helpingus continue our mission to offer accommodations to our patients andtheir families at a time when they need it most,” said Jack Barto,president/CEO of NHRMC, at 769 beds and more than 5,000 employeesone of the largest healthcare provider in the Carolinas.
