Three more credit unions have added remote deposit capture to their mobile banking offerings: the$682 million Michigan First Credit Union of Lathrup Village, Mich., the $835million Meritrust Credit Union of Wichita, Kan. and the $219 millionSuperior Choice Credit Union of Superior, Wis.
|Michigan First CU implemented an RDC feature for iPhone, iPadand Android mobile devices with help from Austin, Texas-basedtechnology vendor Jwaala, as an enhancement to the credit union's existing mobileapp, Michigan First CU said.
|“You can't beat the convenience of snapping a quick photo withyour phone to deposit a check,” said Michael Poulos, president/CEOfor Michigan First CU.
|Meritrust CU said a free eDeposit feature for Android and iPhonewill be accessible to members through the credit union's mobileapp. The credit union launched a scanner version of eDeposit, whichallows members to remotely deposit checks from their homes andoffices with a scanner, in summer 2012.
|“Once we launched the scanner version of eDeposit, we hadseveral members inquire about using their smartphones to remotelydeposit their checks,” said Jamie Taulbee, vice president ofmarketing for Meritrust CU. “We knew it was coming soon and we arehappy to finally provide it.”
|Superior Choice CU opted to team up with Middlebury, Vt.-basedelectronic document solutions provider eDOC Innovations, Inc. forits RDC implementation, eDOC said. Superior Choice is the fourthcredit union to offer CheckLogic Mobile, eDOC's mobile checkdeposit platform, to smartphone-toting members, the companysaid.
