Kids Shop for the Holidays, Astera CU Foots the Bill

A recent shopping spree for local elementary school kids was made possible by the Lansing, Mich.-based Astera Credit Union.

The $152 million cooperative said it presented a check for $854 to the Grand Ledge Shopping Tour, a nonprofit organization that takes local elementary students shopping for school clothes and Christmas presents.

The presentation marks Astera’s second year raising funds for the tour. Dana Hartwick, senior teller at Astera’s Marketplace branch, has spearheaded the credit union’s fundraising efforts both years by organizing candy sales, bake sales and raffle contests.

Hartwick is already planning fundraising opportunities for next year’s Grand Ledge Shopping Tour, according to the credit union.
